First Month in the Bakeshop!!!

We`ve been working in the bakeshop for about a month and a half. We have made many things including cheesecakes, cookies, pies, tarts and much more! We have also made yeast products like cinnamon buns, bread, bagels, and challah. I love decorating the desserts and seeing the finished product. I have had fun learning many new things while working in the bakeshop. I’m super excited to continue baking!!!

Awesome First Month :D

It has been a great first month for me in the baking course. I really love making all the delicious things like cakes, bagels, cheesecakes, cookies, and even cinnamon buns. Today I have made a carrot cake, and also baked bagels for the cafeteria. It is a huge change for me to be switched from a welding course into a baking course, because I did not know where anything was mainly located in the bake shop. My favorite thing to bake so far was probably the apple pie, because it took me only 1 class to make it, and it turned out really amazing. I am learning new things every day, and am trying to improve on some things as well. I have been given lots of help from Chef Nikkle, and my classmates. I think that this course is one of the best courses I have ever taken, and also one of the funnest ones. I hope that I will be able to keep taking this course in the future to complete level 2. I am really excited for the mid terms that are coming up in April, and also for the all the things that I will make/bake in this class.

Cake Pops

Second semester has been an exciting time of learning lots of new things. From yeast raised products like Challah, to layering up cakes. I thought cakes and custards would be my favorite station because that’s what I enjoy doing most at home. Although after visiting all the other stations I cannot choose the one I enjoy the most! The one I dislike the most would have to be pies and tarts. It’s just so difficult to add exactly the right amount of water to the pie dough so that it holds together properly.

I forget what station I was on when I made these cake pops. They were really easy to make. All they are is mushed cupcakes with the icing, then formed into balls and frozen. Then dipped in chocolate and decorated with sprinkles and chocolate drizzle. They tasted really good!

Chocolate Cake

It’s crazy to imagine that years ago I was dreaming that I could do something like this in school. I always wanted to do something with baking, but there was never a course for that. Now, every day I get to school and I get to bake all day long. Call me cheesy but it’s a dream come true J

Recently I’ve been making a lot of different kinds of cakes and pies. One day I’ll be making a pecan pie, and the next I’ll be whipping up a red velvet layered cake.

My personal favorites to make are the chocolate cake and the pecan walnut cake.

March 18, 2015: I did some organization on the different ingredients for yeast raised doughnuts. It’s like chemistry, you to get a certain amount of a certain item for your formula to make the final product.

Cakes

Wow. Can’t believe it’s already been over a month in the baking course.  Oh how time flies!!  I’ve had so much fun these last few weeks and am super excited to continue on. I’ve been able to make so many cool things like cinnamon buns, bagels, cheese scones, and even some cheese cakes, layered cakes and chocolate mouse. I don’t think there is anything that I don’t like. I love it all!!!! I can't wait to continue making these amazing desserts and learning a lot more.
